About the Role
You will be the face of Abagy’s industrial robotics and welding education: designing with the team and delivering high-impact in-person workshops and customer onboarding/training engagements. Your mission is to turn engineers and operators into confident, independent users who understand the technical, operational, and economic value of robotic welding systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of the workshops in Buffalo Grove (Chicago area) for manufacturing leaders, engineers, and decision-makers: covering robotics fundamentals, welding applications, programming, ROI/business case development, integration planning, and hands-on exercises.
- Coach and train customer operators and technicians onsite: equipment setup, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and welding process configuration (basic knowledge with the assistance of our welding engineer).
- Participate in curriculum development: create blended learning assets including micro-learning videos, instructor-led content, hands-on labs, case study exercises, technical job aids, and post-training reinforcement (spaced checks, follow-ups).
- Conduct technical audits with clients to assess current needs, identify automation opportunities, and help design appropriate robotic cell solutions.
- Capture feedback, deliver personalized next-step recommendations, and contribute to continuous improvement of training materials.
- Support post-seminar and post-install onboarding through scheduled check-ins and Q&A sessions.
- Optionally collaborate with a sales/engagement partner during public seminars to balance technical delivery and participant conversion.
Required Qualifications
- Proven hands-on experience with industrial robotic systems (Fanuc, Yaskawa/Motoman) and peripheral devices (vision systems, positioners, welders).
- Solid practical experience programming robots via teach pendant and offline tools (experience with simulation tools is a plus).
- Familiarity with welding processes and quality considerations (ideally in robotic welding contexts).
- Demonstrated ability to teach complex technical content to mixed-skill audiences; strong presenter/facilitator.
- Experience running or contributing to technical seminars, workshops, or customer trainings.
- Analytical mindset: able to lead technical audits, and translate customer pain points into actionable plans.
- Native English communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to customer sites.
- Comfortable with recording and breaking training content into reusable learning assets (short video bites, checklists).
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Background as a robotics integrator engineer or commissioning specialist with direct field deployment experience.
- Instructional design familiarity (ADDIE/SAM, microlearning, spaced repetition).
- Certification(s) in robotics (vendor-specific).
- Experience with economic justification of automation projects (feasibility studies, ROI modeling).
- Ability to co-facilitate with a sales/business engagement counterpart in a public seminar setting.
